Microsoft has reorganized its leadership to allow CEO Satya Nadella to focus more on advancing the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) and technical innovations. Nadella is stepping back from direct oversight of Microsofts commercial operations. The company has appointed Judson Althoff as CEO of the Commercial Business.  Althoff a company veteran will head sales marketing and operations. He will drive customer engagement and go-to-market strategies for accelerated growth. What Is Change In Satya Nadella’s Work? This shift is a response to what Nadella calls a tectonic AI platform shift. Nadella will dedicatedly work on technical priorities like data center expansion and groundbreaking product development. It will help them to compete with rivals like Google and Amazon in the AI sector.  What Will Be Althoff’s Role As Leader? The reorganization will consolidate operations under Althoff. He will focus on reducing customer feedback loops and strengthen collaboration across sales engineering marketing operations and finance. Takeshi Numoto Chief Marketing Officer will report directly to Althoff for commercial marketing and continue dotted-line accountability to Nadella for broader business strategies. Over the past nine years Judson has led our global sales organization and was the architect behind designing and building Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) into what it is today: the “number one seed” in the industry and our company’s most important growth engine. According to media reports Satya Nadella in his email to employees wrote ‘’This will also allow our engineering leaders and me to be laser focused on our highest ambition technical work—across our datacenter buildout systems architecture AI science and product innovation—to lead with intensity and pace in this generational platform shift. Each one of us needs to be at our very best in terms of rapidly learning new skills adopting new ways to work and staying close to the metal to drive innovation across the entire stack!!’’
