This matter is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are getting a new idea of the power of AI.
Doctor thought stomach pain was just gas
A 49 year old man suddenly started having severe stomach pain. The pain was so severe that he immediately reached the hospital. There he told his problem to the doctor, but the doctor did not take it seriously. He said that it was a normal gas problem and prescribed some medicines and sent him home. Returned home and took medicines, but did not get any relief from the pain. On the contrary, the pain started increasing. The person was very upset.
Grok AI gave right advice
The person remembered that Elon Musk’s Grok AI is very smart. He told all his symptoms in detail to Grok. Grok immediately replied that it did not seem like normal gas pain. AI warned that it could be appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) and if not treated quickly, there is a risk of the appendix bursting, which could prove fatal.
Grok said clearly, “Go to the hospital immediately and get a CT scan done.” The person again reached the hospital without any delay. This time the pain was more than before. He directly told the doctor that it was necessary to get a CT scan done. When the scan was done, even the doctors were surprised; there was severe swelling in the appendix and it could burst at any time. An emergency operation was immediately performed and the appendix was removed. If there had been a delay of a few more hours, the situation could have become very serious.
Didn’t tell the doctor the name of AI
After the operation, when he went for routine checkup, the person did not tell the doctor the truth that Grok AI had given the advice. Rather, he lied that his sister was a nurse and it was she who had asked for the CT scan. Perhaps they felt that telling the doctor about AI would not make him feel good. This incident shows how quickly AI can provide accurate results, but companies have repeatedly warned that AI cannot yet completely replace doctors.
