A few days ago, a case of harassment of an Indian woman came to light at Shanghai Airport in China, the video of which went viral on social media. The woman was a resident of Arunachal Pradesh. After this incident it had become a political issue. The opposition had made many serious allegations against the government. Along with this, China’s Foreign Ministry had also given a statement in which it had rejected this incident. However, now the Foreign Ministry of India has given some answers.
China should follow international air rules-MEA
Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal has said that we believe that China should follow international air rules. The Ministry of External Affairs also advised Indian citizens to take appropriate precautions while traveling to or transiting through China.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that in connection with the incident that took place at Shanghai Airport a few days ago, we expect the Chinese authorities to provide assurance that no Indian citizen passing through Chinese airports will be specifically targeted. Nor will they be arbitrarily stopped or harassed, and the Chinese side will abide by the rules governing international air travel.
Foreign Ministry’s statement regarding Arunachal Pradesh
Randhir Jaiswal has also replied mentioning Arunachal Pradesh. He said that India has always said that Arunachal Pradesh was always a part of India and will always remain so. China has also been changing the names of many places in Arunachal Pradesh and claiming it as its own. Perhaps this is the reason why the woman from Arunachal Pradesh was detained by China and misbehaved with her.
