Chinese Man Detained: A Chinese national was arrested for entering Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh without authorization. According to the authorities, the army intercepted an odd online conversation that led to his incarceration. He was detained when the Army notified security services in the Kashmir valley. Several agencies were questioning him.

Who Is the Chinese National in Detention?
Hu Congtai, a 29-year-old Chinese national, was recognized. with November 19, he traveled to Delhi with a tourist visa, allowing him to see Buddhist sites in Varanasi, Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur, Sarnath, Gaya, and Kushi Nagar. Congtai, who graduated with a degree in Physics from Boston University, said that he enjoys taking trips. According to his passport, he has been to the US, New Zealand, Brazil, Fiji, and Hong Kong, among other places.

Congtai Violates Foreigner-Specific Norms
According to the authorities, he took advantage of his appearance to board a flight to Leh on November 20 without registering at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office counter at the Leh airport.

Before arriving in Srinagar on December 1, he spent three days touring the Zanskar area and stopping at significant locations in the Himalayan town, according to authorities. His phone history revealed that he was searching for the CRPF deployment in the valley.

The authorities said that he had made arrangements to purchase an Indian SIM card on the open market. The Chinese citizen visited a Buddhist shrine in Harwan, Srinagar, where he slept in an unlicensed guest home. Last year, an encounter there claimed the life of a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist.

He had also visited the Awantipur ruins in South Kashmir, which are close to the army’s Victor Force headquarters in the region, according to the authorities and information taken from his phone. He also traveled to other parts of Srinagar, such as the Mughal Garden beside the Dal Lake, Hazratbal, and Shankracharya Hills.

According to the authorities, his phone history included queries on CRPF deployments and Article 370 of the Constitution, which was repealed in August 2019 to abolish Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
