Rod Stewart stunned fans when he suddenly brought his live show to a halt and launched into a furious on-stage rant - accusing someone in the crowd of ruining the night. The legendary rocker, 80, was performing in Athens when the flashpoint erupted mid-song, leaving thousands watching in disbelief as the music cut out and the singer took aim from the stage. Rod was dressed sharply in a suit and clutching a football as his backing band began playing Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? inside the OAKA Sports Hall in Greece.
But instead of singing, the star strode to the front, visibly angry, and addressed the crowd directly. Pointing towards the audience, he barked into the microphone: "Out the f***ing way. You're spoiling the show for everybody. Out the way. Leave. We don't need you here!" As tension rippled through the arena, Rod appeared to defend another fan who had been caught up in the moment. He shot back: "All she's doing is putting up a sign. It's not hurting you is it, mate?"
The outburst lasted only moments, but it was enough to leave the atmosphere crackling. Regaining his composure, Rod turned to his band and reset the night with a curt instruction: "OK, from the top, where we left off."
The music kicked back in and the show continued, but the clip quickly took on a life of its own online. Social media users speculated the singer's fiery mood may not have been entirely about the crowd.
On TikTok, fans suggested Rod's temper could have been influenced by football frustration after his beloved Celtic were beaten 3-1 by St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup Final earlier in the day.
Despite the dramatic interruption, concertgoers were still treated to a packed setlist. Rod performed 25 songs in total, rolling out hit after hit including Young Turks, You Wear It Well and Hot Legs, proving he still delivers even when sparks fly.
The Athens gig comes during a turbulent spell for the star. His next show - and his final performance until February - takes place on Wednesday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Rod's on-stage clash comes after a turbulent year. He won rave reviews for his Legends slot at Glastonbury in June but was later forced to cancel several shows due to illness.
Rod pulled six dates while battling flu before bouncing back at Worthy Farm, roping in Lulu, Mick Hucknall and Ronnie Wood to help him wow the crowd.
Away from music, the footy-mad star also hit headlines over World Cup ticket prices after Scotland qualified for their first tournament in 28 years. Rod said: "I find it hard that tickets are going to be selling for £2,000. I can't even afford it."
Some final tickets are already being listed for £33,000.
At home, Rod has backed wife Penny Lancaster following her tell-all book. Standing beside her, he said: "Wow this is incredible Penny. Absolutely blood curdling information in here."
Laughing, he added: "Oh my God I can't read it," before turning serious: "No It's just the best, I'm so proud of her."
