There was a time when elderly people had to make repeated visits to government offices to apply for old-age pensions. They had to fill out forms and submit all sorts of documents. But now, a new system is being implemented in Uttar Pradesh. Under this system, eligible senior citizens in UP will not need to do anything; their old-age pension will automatically start being credited to their accounts every month. The UP government has prepared this new system.

Under this system, senior citizens will not need to apply separately for old-age pensions. If you meet the eligibility criteria, your name will automatically be added to the Uttar Pradesh old-age pension list through the Family ID system. After this, the monthly pension of Rs. 1000 will start being credited to your account. It is believed that this will expedite the payment process and prevent fraud. Through this, the Social Welfare Department aims to ensure that no eligible senior citizen is left out.

How will the new system work?
According to the information, as soon as an eligible senior citizen approaches the age of 60, their name will automatically be added to the old-age pension list 90 days in advance. According to the Minister of State for Social Welfare, Aseem Arun, the government's priority is to ensure economic and social security for the elderly. The new pension system will ensure that money reaches the beneficiaries' accounts on time. This step will provide permanent financial assistance, especially to destitute, elderly, and underprivileged people. Currently, under the destitute women, old-age, and disabled persons pension schemes in Uttar Pradesh, 1,06,17,640 beneficiaries are receiving Rs. 1,000 per month.

These eligibility conditions must be met:
To avail of the UP Old Age Pension Scheme, the applicant must be over 60 years of age. It is also mandatory that they be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, the applicant must be below the poverty line (BPL) to be eligible for the pension. Senior citizens whose annual income exceeds Rs. 46,080 in rural areas and Rs. 56,460 in urban areas will not be eligible for this scheme. Which elderly people will not receive a pension?
If an elderly person is already receiving benefits from another pension scheme, they will not be eligible for this scheme. If your age is less than 60 years according to your Aadhaar card and other documents, you will also not be eligible for the scheme.

Family ID is mandatory.
Even though you don't need to apply separately for the old-age pension scheme, you will definitely need one document: a Family ID. The Social Welfare Department will collect data from the Family ID. Therefore, if you do not have a Family ID, you may be deprived of the scheme's benefits. You can create a Family ID through the Family ID portal using your Aadhaar number. You can also get this done at your nearest CSC (Common Service Center).
