Hansa Singh's Journey in Acting

Renowned actress Hansa Singh, celebrated for her compelling performances in productions like Goodbye and Criminal Justice, shares how her acting journey has profoundly influenced her work ethic and emotional perspective on life.

In discussing the impact of embodying various characters, Singh emphasizes the importance of observation in an actor's craft. "Being observant is a key aspect of acting. I pay close attention to people and their behaviors. This subtlety can significantly enhance one's performance," she explains.

When asked if her acting experience has made her more empathetic or cautious, Singh asserts that life itself is the ultimate teacher. "Acting and real life are distinct. I often remind aspiring actors that we have always been performing in life. The skill lies in expressing it on camera. Understanding others develops over time, allowing me to perceive beyond the surface today," she elaborates.

Her growth has also been shaped by collaborating with diverse teams. Singh highlights the value of humility and continuous learning, stating, "I will keep learning until my last breath. If I stop learning, I cease to live. I treat everyone on set—crew and fellow actors—with respect, as each person has something valuable to teach."

Regarding her off-screen relationships, she maintains a professional demeanor. "I prefer to keep my off-screen interactions professional and cordial. I feel more comfortable with my directors since my work is closely tied to them," she notes. On her sensitivity, Singh humorously attributes it to her Pisces nature. "I am sensitive by nature, but I strive to separate myself from my characters once I leave the set. Exploring different roles has deepened my self-awareness," she adds.

Navigating the entertainment industry has required her to be adaptable. While she describes herself as creative, she underscores the necessity of representation and the ability to balance artistry with management. She has also learned to decline roles that may compromise her craft.

For aspiring actors, Singh advises cultivating focus, patience, and self-awareness, encouraging them to hone their skills rather than fixating on appearances.

To maintain her equilibrium, she enjoys salsa dancing, traveling, and life coaching, cherishing solitude as a vital aspect of self-care. "I have earned that privilege for my mental well-being," she concludes.
