UP Weather Update : A yellow warning has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for areas of western Uttar Pradesh due to heavy fog and chilly daytime temperatures. The state’s lowest temperatures have decreased by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the last three days, making it colder.
Dense fog is expected to be prevalent over the eastern region today, and there may be chilly weather in some regions. Normal living may be impacted by morning visibility dropping to 100–150 meters.
Schools from kindergarten through eighth grade have been closed in a number of districts due to the extreme cold. Throughout the state, fog has also caused delays to aviation, rail, and road services.
Warning of a Cold Day in These Districts
People may feel very cold even throughout the day due to frigid winds and freezing daytime temperatures. Residents have been encouraged by authorities to leave only when absolutely essential. Kanpur, Fatehpur, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Kaushambi are under a caution due to heavy fog and chilly weather. In the meanwhile, Jalaun and Hamirpur are under a yellow warning for chilly day weather.
Shravasti, Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Amethi, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra are also predicted to see dense fog. While the remainder of the state is in the green zone, where fog intensity is expected to be lower, these districts are still on a yellow warning for fog.
Two Days of Slight Fog Relief
With minimum temperatures predicted to increase by two to three degrees Celsius over the following two days, there should be some respite from fog starting on December 23. But after three days, the weather is predicted to shift once again, bringing with it fog and a new drop in temperature, so this reprieve could not last long.
With a low temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours, Sultanpur became the state’s coldest district. Low temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees Celsius were also recorded in Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bareilly, and Shahjahanpur.
UP Weather Forecast December 22: Several areas of Uttar Pradesh will see cold days with thick to very dense fog in the morning; midday temperatures will continue to be below average.
December 23: Cold weather persists with a modest increase in daytime temperature; fog is expected to linger in western and eastern areas, making it difficult to see in the early hours of the day.

December 25: Dry weather most of the day, with cold wave-like conditions in certain places, particularly at night and in the early morning.
