Talking about the incident that happened during the event, Lagnajita said, "I had started my show at around 7 pm and it was going on smoothly. At around 7:45 pm, I had sung 7 songs and I was about to start my 8th song in the list... This 7th song is 'Jaago Maa', which is from the movie 'Devi Chaudhurani', which was released during this puja. When I was talking to the audience after this song, Then suddenly I saw a man from the audience running towards the stage… He came very close to me.”
'People ran to save me and were pulling him away'
Lagnajita further said, "The school where I was performing was recording my entire concert, which is very normal, because every organizer does this. But I do not have access to that video recording because it belongs to the school. If someone is able to access that video, if it comes in public, then everyone can see that Mehboob Malik had run towards the stage with the intention of beating me. In simple words, he was trying to beat me." Wanted… When people ran to save me and were pulling her away, she shouted, ‘Wake up mother, enough is enough, now sing something secular’.”
Lagnajita also said, "Bengali is a beautiful language which has many words to call a person, but he called me 'Tu', which I am not okay with. This is not a part of our culture. We do not do this with any stranger or guest. It is used for very close people or is used as an abuse... After leaving the show, I went to Bhagwanpur police station and filed a GD... I have full faith in our police and administration, and I know That such an incident will not happen again... I have another show in the Arambag area in the coming days, and I am going to sing 'Jaago Maa' once again on my 7th number.
