Microsoft has taken an optimistic view about the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. According to Punit Chandhok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, AI technology is being rapidly adopted in various industries. AI technology is expanding rapidly, especially with the growing popularity of tools like “Copilot.”
He said, “People’s thinking about AI has changed and are now focused on real and positive impacts. Microsoft believes that the potential of AI can bring significant change not only at the technical but also at the social level.” He also stressed the need to prioritize security, data privacy, transparency and bias in the development of AI. Microsoft is committed to protecting its customers’ data and using AI ethically.
He further said, “India is one of the fastest growing regions for Microsoft globally. It has more than 7000 listed companies and is the third largest startup ecosystem in the world. India has more than 60 million small and medium businesses (SMBs).” “Which provides an excellent opportunity for the widespread use of AI.”
India also has an excellent position on Microsoft’s GitHub platform. Currently about 1.5 crore Indian developers are active on this platform, and in the next few years this number may exceed that of the US also. Chandok also said that one-sixth of the world’s AI researchers and developers come from India. According to a recent study, every fourth employee added to the world’s workforce in the next ten years will be from India, which shows India’s growing influence globally. Given India’s wide access to skills training, digital infrastructure and technology for AI development, Microsoft believes that India is poised to become a global hub for AI.
