New Delhi: After a year of dominating junior cricket 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his mark on the senior stage on Wednesday during Bihars Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi. The young sensation delivered a sensational performance as he played an explosive knock of 190 off just 84 balls which featured 15 massive sixes. His stellar performance has once again grabbed everyones attention. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor who has long been an ardent follower of cricket questioned BCCI on social media after watching Suryavanshis record knock. The Bihar star scripted history as he not only became the youngest List A centurion in history reaching the century mark in just 36 balls but he also became the fastest Indian in List A cricket to achieve this feat a record later broken by team captain Sakibul Gani wh reached his ton in 32 balls and later by Ishan Kishan (33) in Jharkhands opener against Karnataka. Tharoor questions BCCI on fast-tracking Suryavanshi into senior team Posting on X (formerly Twitter) Tharoor reminded the BCCI that the last time India witnessed a prodigy of such caliber was Sachin Tendulkar who debuted internationally at just 16 creating a historic impact. He questioned why the board seems reluctant to fast-track Suryavanshi into the senior team tagging selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar head coach Gautam Gambhir and Tendulkar himself in his post. https://twitter.com/ShashiTharoor/status/2003777351273025992 The last time a fourteen year old showed such prodigious cricketing talent it was Sachin Tendulkar — and we all know what became of him. What are waiting for? VaibhavSuryavanshi for India! @imAagarkar @GautamGambhir @bcci @sachin_rt he posted. Bihar posted an incredible target of 574 for 6 in their 50 overs After the explosive innings from Gani and Suryavanshi wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Loharuka who added to the fireworks scoring a rapid 116 off just 56 balls. Fueled by the trio of centuries Bihar posted an incredible target of 574 for 6 in their 50 overs setting a new record for the highest team total in List A cricket history. This marked only the second time a team had crossed the 500-run mark in a 50-over game following Tamil Nadus 506 for 2 against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Bihar however surpassed that feat becoming the first team to break the 550-run barrier.
