UP Roadways Insurance Rule: As soon as passengers buy a Roadways bus ticket, they automatically receive insurance coverage of up to Rs 7.5 lakh. The insurance remains valid throughout the entire journey.
Today, millions of people travel daily in UP, and Roadways buses play a crucial role in meeting their transportation needs. The UP Transport Corporation is constantly enhancing facilities to provide passengers with safe, convenient, and affordable travel. Despite this, due to a lack of information, many people travel by private vehicles instead of the Roadways buses.
There is no solid guarantee of safety for those travelling in private buses. If an accident occurs, people do not receive any financial assistance. But very few people know that buying a Roadways bus ticket automatically provides the passenger with insurance coverage.
This is not a separate form or an extra charge facility. As soon as the ticket is issued, the passenger comes under the insurance coverage of up to Rs 7.5 lakh, which remains valid during the journey. According to the Transport Corporation, in case of any accident, the benefit of this insurance scheme is given directly to the passenger or their family.
The aim is to ensure that financial worries do not burden passengers or their families after an accident. This facility makes Roadways buses different from and more reliable than private modes of transport. Thousands of passengers travel daily by buses in UP.
Despite this, a large number of people still travel by private vehicles, e-rickshaws, or other means. The problem is that these vehicles do not have insurance coverage, nor is responsibility fixed in case of an accident. Overloading and illegal operation further increase the risk.
When traveling on Roadways buses, passengers not only get insurance but also facilities for grievance redressal and emergency assistance. In case of any problem, immediate relief is provided through the helpline, and action is taken according to the process.
The safety of passengers is entirely the responsibility of the Transport Corporation. Injured passengers receive assistance ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. In case of 100 percent disability or death, a compensation of Rs 7.5 lakh is provided. Previously, this amount was five lakh rupees, which has now been increased.
