Goa recorded their second straight win in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. On Friday in Jaipur they beat Himachal Pradesh by 8 runs in a close contest. Batting first Goa scored 285 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. For Goa Lalit Yadav starred with a fine century scoring 104 runs while captain Deepraj Gaonkar supported him well with a half-century of 71. Among the Himachal Pradesh bowlers Rohit Kumar took five wickets and Mridul picked up two. Chasing the target Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for 277 runs in 49.3 overs. Middle-order batter P. Rajman played a brilliant knock of 126 and almost took his team to victory but the fall of wickets at the end led to their defeat. For Goa Deepraj Gaonkar shone with the ball claiming five wickets. With strong performances in both batting and bowling Deepraj was named Player of the Match. However Goa all-rounder and Sachin Tendulkars son Arjun Tendulkar had a very poor match. While he opened the batting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Arjun came in much lower down the order in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He got to face only one ball and could not make any impact with the bat. His bowling was also disappointing. Arjun Tendulkar bowled 6 overs and gave away 58 runs at an economy rate of 9.70 without taking a wicket. Because he was leaking too many runs the captain did not let him complete his full quota of overs. After sitting out the first match Arjun got a chance to play against Himachal Pradesh but he failed to make the most of the opportunity. Earlier Arjun had shown decent form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Meanwhile for IPL 2026 he will represent the Lucknow Super Giants who traded him from the Mumbai Indians.
