PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline: Attention people the last date to link your Aadhaar Card with your PAN is about to end and a section of taxpayers are still confused about the process. The question arises that what will happen to the people who have not linked their PAN with their unique identity. The deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking is 31st December and from January 1 2026 those who have not performed the linking process are going to witness their PAN becoming inoperative. The Income Tax Department has made it mandatory for individuals to link their PAN with Aadhaar whose PAN was allotted by the tax department using an Aadhaar number before October 1 2024. Will Your PAN Be Deactivated? After the deadline your PAN Card will be rendered inoperative if not linked with Aadhaar. Individuals who fail to link their PAN Card with their Aadhaar Card will face several penalties. Individuals who link PAN with Aadhaar right now will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1000 as the original date has surpassed. Consequences Of Not Linking Pan With Aadhaar PAN Card gets inoperative. Difficulties while filing Income Tax Return (ITR). Have to pay higher TDS/TCS TCS/TDS certificates will not be available. Problems in opening bank accounts and getting credit/debit cards. Individuals will also face difficulties in depositing cash exceeding Rs 50000. KYC restrictions. Here’s How To Link PAN-Aadhaar Online? Visit Income Tax e‑filing portal and select Link Aadhaar. Enter your Aadhaar number PAN and Click Validate. Enter the OTP and pay Rs 1000 as instructed. Visit e-filing portal again after a few days. Under the link Aadhaar option enter your details like before. A pop will come saying “Your payment details are verified”. Click Continue. Enter the requested details. Agree to verify your Aadhaar after checking all details. Then hit the Link Aadhaar options by entering the 6-digit OTP. Click Validate.
