Tensions boiled over among ITV fans on Saturday night (December 27) as they tuned in for the Christmas special of Ant and Dec's Limitless Win. For the festive special, two unsuspecting audience members were in for a sparkling surprise when they were invited to step onto the Limitless ladder while playing alongside a celebrity teammate. During the show, mum-of-two Brooke joined Amanda Holden, but was sent home early after stumbling on just five questions.
Meanwhile, army veteran Nigel was paired with football legend Jamie Redknapp, who had a significantly stronger game. So good, in fact, that the dynamic duo managed to successfully answer three consecutive questions exactly right. One of the questions they were asked was: "How many holes does a standard golf course have?" which they correctly answered 18.
Another question they faced was: "How many mm wide is a standard Lindt Lindor chocolate truffle?" For this question, the team of two decided to play their advantage card, where they gave one answer, and Ant and Dec gave another, with the machine eliminating the response furthest away from the correct answer.
Jamie and Nigel submitted their answer of 32 while Ant and Dec low-balled them, offering an answer of 28, which they managed to get exactly right. The final question they answered exactly right was "How many stripes does Where's Wally have on his T-shirt?" which they correctly guessed was 10.
However, after watching the nail-biting scenes hit the airwaves, fans flocked to social media to express their frustrations over the show's difficulty level online, with many calling it a "fix". One user penned: "P*** easy questions, such a fix" as another agreed: "Come on chaps, they have got through with the equivalent of asking what comes after C in the alphabet."
A third echoed: "The golf course question was a bit of a gimmie," as a fourth chuckled: "Three exact answers in a row! Woahhhhh! [laughing emoji]". Meanwhile, another quipped: "Happy Christmas, the next question is... what is your house number? [cry-laughing emoji]."
After achieving an impressive hat trick, the amy vet decided to cash out with an impressive £30,000 in the bank, which left the guest almost in tears. He couldn't help but thank Jamie for his help throughout the nail-biting game, as they walked out arm in arm.
The festive special arrives just weeks before the new series returns next month, as part of a double recommission announced earlier this year. Since launching in 2022, Limitless Win has given away over an astonishing £3.5million and has been streamed 13million times, reaching over 25 million viewers.
Speaking about the new series, Ant gushed: "We're really pleased that Limitless Win is coming back for another two series and some Christmas specials. People stop us all the time, saying how much they love the show and play along with their family. It's exciting, it's such a hit with viewers."
Declan Donnelly added: "We'd love to go further up the ladder than we've ever been. We want the contestants to go as high as possible! That's the magic of Limitless Win, you never know, you might just know the exact answer to the question!"
