Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has registered 7,429 cases of rule violations in Namma Metro trains during December alone, officials said.

According to data from December 5 to 25, cases include 6,520 violations related to loud phone conversations, watching reels, or using Bluetooth devices at high volume. A total of 268 cases were booked for eating inside metro coaches, while 641 cases were registered for tobacco consumption.

BMRCL officials said complaints related to noise disturbance and mobile phone misuse have increased significantly. Authorities are now considering imposing heavier penalties to curb such behaviour.

Passengers have also been found violating rules by filming reels, taking photographs, and recording videos at stations and inside trains, particularly during train arrivals and departures. Despite repeated warnings by security personnel, violations continue, causing concern for metro authorities.

BMRCL reiterated that strict adherence to metro rules is mandatory and warned that repeat or serious offenders could be handed over to the police.
