In preparation for the upcoming New Year celebrations and Republic Day, the Delhi Police, in collaboration with central security agencies, has initiated a large-scale verification campaign in sensitive areas of the national capital. The primary goal of this initiative is to identify suspicious individuals and prevent any potential security threats. These efforts are part of a coordinated strategy to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the festive season.

Coordination Meetings for Enhanced Security

To avert any untoward incidents before the New Year and Republic Day festivities, the Delhi Police is conducting coordination meetings with central security agencies. These meetings aim to identify suspicious persons in sensitive areas, as confirmed by an official on Sunday.

Increased Security Measures in Delhi

A senior police official reported that with the assistance of civilian agencies, the police are installing CCTV cameras that record 24/7 in areas deemed at risk. Security measures have been intensified across Delhi, particularly in sensitive locations.

Community Engagement for Peace

To maintain communal harmony and encourage the public to avoid rumors, meetings with local peace committees will be held in various districts. Additionally, drone surveillance will be employed in these areas. The Delhi Police has implemented stricter arrangements to uphold law and order on New Year's Eve, with approximately 20,000 police personnel, including traffic police and paramilitary forces, deployed throughout the city.

On New Year's Eve, the Delhi Police will deploy around 20,000 personnel across the city, including traffic police and paramilitary forces, to maintain law and order. Numerous checkpoints, barricades, and vehicle inspection points will be established, particularly at entry points, party zones, markets, and nightlife areas. Security has also been heightened at Delhi's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to manage potential crowds from neighboring states.

Focus on Traffic Safety

The police will closely monitor instances of drunk driving, reckless driving, and dangerous motorcycle stunts. Breath analyzers will be extensively used at checkpoints, and strict action will be taken against violators. Special arrangements have been made for areas like Connaught Place, Hauz Khas Village, and major markets, where large crowds are anticipated. Only vehicles with valid stickers will be allowed entry into the inner circle of Connaught Place to facilitate traffic flow and better manage crowds.

Comprehensive Monitoring and Enforcement

Under routine verification, police will conduct regular checks at various public places, including hotels, guest houses, dharamshalas, bus terminals, and railway stations. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been strategically deployed across the city to respond promptly to any emergencies.

Special Attention to Tourist Areas

Popular tourist spots like India Gate will receive special attention, with additional forces deployed to ensure public safety. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to remain on the streets throughout the night, closely monitoring the situation with their teams.
