Kundapura: A major fire broke out early Monday morning (December 29), causing heavy losses to a building that housed a well-known bookshop and firecracker outlets in Kundapura town.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at shops located on Rathabeedi, opposite the Venkataramana Temple in the busy Kundapura market area. According to preliminary information, the fire quickly spread and gutted the structure.
Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control. Despite their efforts, three shops housed in the building were completely destroyed in the fire.
No injuries were reported at the time of filing this report. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the financial loss are yet to be officially confirmed.
Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed inspection once the area is secured.
