DSSSB Teacher Age Limit: The Delhi government is considering increasing the age limit for teacher recruitment under the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB). Until a decision is made on this matter, the teacher recruitment examination will not be conducted. Last year, the Aam Aadmi Party government had reduced the age limit for applying to PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) positions in Delhi government schools from 36 years to 30 years. This was negatively impacting thousands of guest teachers. Due to the change in the age limit, many candidates were unable to appear for the examination.

Since the change, candidates have been demanding an increase in the age limit. The Delhi government has now taken notice of this. The examination was scheduled for March. Education Minister Ashish Sood said that the order for the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board to conduct the examination has been put on hold. A new date for the examination will be announced only after the age limit is revised to provide relief to the teachers.

The examination will not be held until a new order regarding the age limit is issued. The Education Minister said that this decision has been taken keeping the interests of the students in mind. This decision by the government will allow those candidates who were unable to appear for the examination due to the age limit.

Shoaib Rana, General Secretary of the All India Guest Teachers Association, said that if the age limit is increased, it will provide great relief to young and guest teachers. We have been protesting against the reduction in the age limit for a long time. The age limit for teacher recruitment was reduced from 30, 32, and 36 to 30 years. Because of this, thousands of eligible candidates became overage while sitting at home, even though the age limit for teacher recruitment in neighboring states is 40 years or more.
