Hundreds of students of Eklavya Tribal Residential School, Rampur, operated in Jabalpur district, were seen protesting on the streets today and shouting slogans. All of them were upset with the behavior of their school principal and were going to complain to the collector. Students were raising slogans in the name of the principal and demanding his removal from the post.

Today, a strange situation was created on the streets of Jabalpur when about 450 students in uniform were seen on the road shouting slogans, all of them were raising slogans of Rani madam, hi hi, when the media came to know about it, the children told that Rani madam is their principal and they all were going to meet the collector to complain about her.

The students who opened a protest against the principal of their own school made serious allegations against her for misbehaving. According to the children, Principal Avinash Rani has been appointed a few days ago. He is appointed by the Central Government while a Principal is also appointed by the State Government. There is division of work between the two, Avinash Rani also has the charge of hostel superintendent.

Students on the road against female principal/superintendent

Hundreds of students studying in Jabalpur Rampur Eklavya Residential School on Monday came out against the hostel superintendent, breaking the lock of the hostel and then went to the Collector’s office on foot. After walking for about three kilometers, the District Panchayat CEO stopped the children and kept trying to convince them. The students have said that the hostel superintendent not only misbehaves with them, but also uses caste words, not only this, whenever the family members come, the superintendent also misbehaves with them.

Students allege that we get bathrooms and drains cleaned.

The protesting students said that despite having a peon and other staff in the school, we are made to clean the bathrooms and drains. We also do the dusting work in the hostel. The students said that those students who do not obey the principal are beaten up. When no action was taken even after repeated complaints, he broke the lock of the hostel and left to meet the collector. Student Anil Baiga says that when family members come to meet, she also misbehaves with them, therefore, until the principal is removed, the students will protest in this manner.

In a school, two principals, children and teachers are all worried, whom to listen to?

It is noteworthy that Eklavya Tribal School is a school run by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. In this, two principals are appointed by the Central and State Governments. Avinash Rani has been posted in Jabalpur by the Government of India, while Geeta Sahu is posted by the State Government. The students say that both the principals give different instructions. In such a situation, we are facing the problem of which of the two to listen to. Both the principals impose restrictions even on teachers to maintain their influence.

District Panchayat CEO listened to the children and assured of appropriate action.

As soon as the Collector came to know that hundreds of students were coming out of the hostel and coming towards the Collector’s office. The police tried to stop them but when they did not agree, the District Panchayat CEO was sent to meet the students. District Panchayat CEO Abhishek Gehlot also admitted that he has spoken to the students and most of the complaints are to the behavior of the principal. We will try to resolve it and a notice will also be given to the Tribal Tax Department asking why they did not take cognizance of it even after the complaint.
