Many people are interested in knowing who is ahead and who is behind in the AI race. Google's AI tool, Gemini, is attracting attention in the artificial intelligence competition. Recently, new data from the analytics firm Similarweb revealed that Gemini's market share in generative AI traffic on the web has increased rapidly over the past year, while OpenAI's ChatGPT has seen a significant decline in its growth.
A year ago, Google Gemini's market share in the AI race was only 5.4 percent, and today that figure has increased to 18.2 percent. This means that Gemini has grown more than threefold in just one year. On the other hand, ChatGPT's market share in the AI race has decreased from 87.2 percent to 68 percent.
Experts are calling this shift part of a larger AI migration, where users are using different AI tools instead of relying entirely on a single one. Sam Badawi, CEO of Solid Finance, said that these numbers are not random. If people's web activity reflects their true preferences, then Google's increasing share shows that it is not just competing, but the company is rapidly moving ahead.
What is the reason behind Google Gemini's growth?
A report by Moneycontrol suggests that one of the main reasons could be that Google has quietly integrated AI into the products that people use daily. Google has incorporated it into Chrome, Android, Google Workspace tools like Docs and Gmail, as well as Google Search. Gemini's presence everywhere means users are constantly interacting with it.
