With New Year's Eve on the horizon, plenty of us will be setting goals for 2026. And if one of yours is to be a little bit more active, then it's likely you've already considered Pilates or Reformer Pilates. The trendiest workout of 2025 is also set to be huge in the fitness world this coming year, so it's the perfect time to get yourself geared up.

But first of all, what is Reformer pilates?

You may have seen it on class posters or talked about in conversation, but if you're not quite sure what the exercise is, or how it benefits your body, we have the lowdown. It's a low-impact workout that uses a specialist machine with springs, straps and a sliding carriage to add resistance to classic Pilates movements. It focuses on strength, flexibility and core control, delivering a slow, controlled burn that works muscles deeply while still being gentle on joints– which is why it’s become so popular with all fitness levels.

Reformer Pilates cost

The only downside to this trending workout is that classes don't come cheap. Virgin Active gyms offer Reformer Pilates classes as part of their memberships, costing around £120 every month, and David Lloyd clubs, with memberships from around £100, feature some new state-of-the-art Reform machines on the gym floor of larger clubs. Meanwhile, there are plenty of dedicated Reformer studios popping up across the country, with average monthly memberships costing upwards of £.200 per month for 6-8 classes.
