The second ODI match played between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium on Friday witnessed a tragic incident. During the match, Pakistani team’s all-rounder Hussain Talat got seriously injured while fielding. The injury was so severe that he had to be immediately taken off the field and admitted to the hospital.
This incident happened during Bangladesh’s innings. Pakistani bowler Muhammad Wasim was bowling the sixth over and Bangladesh batsman Liton Das was on strike. Das played a shot towards covers, which was rapidly going towards the boundary. To stop the ball, Hussain Talat ran and tried to catch the ball by diving.
How did this tragic accident happen?
Hussain Talat lost his balance while trying to stop the ball from crossing the boundary. His foot fell on the foam on the boundary and he collided directly with the advertising hoarding. Due to this collision, he fell awkwardly on his left shoulder, due to which he suffered serious injury.
Talat lay down on the field groaning in pain. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the medical staff of Pakistan cricket team immediately reached the field. When his condition did not improve even after first aid, he was taken off the field on a stretcher.
PCB confirmed hospitalization
After being taken out of the field, Hussain Talat was immediately taken to the nearest hospital via ambulance. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also issued a statement confirming that Talat has been admitted to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for a left shoulder injury.
In this match, Pakistan batted first and scored 274 runs. On behalf of the team, Maaz Sadaqat scored the highest innings of 75 runs and Salman Ali Agha played a half-century. However, Talat’s injury added a bit of worry to the team’s joy of victory.
