Mangaluru: A man allegedly attempted to sexually assault a woman after luring her with a promise of work near Lalbagh on Friday. The accused fled the spot and a case has been registered at Urwa Police Station.
According to police, the accused approached a woman from another district, aged around 35, who was waiting for daily wage work near Urwa Store Junction in the morning.
He convinced her that there was work available and brought her by bus to Lalbagh. The accused then took her to an abandoned house near the pump house area where he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
The woman raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to rush to the spot. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused fled.
The woman sustained injuries to her hand during the incident. Police have launched a search to trace the accused.
