Udupi: The Manipal Police Station police arrested four suspects within 12 hours in connection with a house theft case and recovered gold jewellery worth ₹4.47 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Santosh (20) from Vijayapura, Chirantan (21) from Badanidiyur and two juveniles in conflict with law.
According to police, the theft occurred at the residence of Sangeeta Madival, a resident of Shanthinagar in Badagabettu village.
She had locked the house and gone to her mother’s residence on the morning of March 12. When she returned in the afternoon, she found that unidentified persons had removed roof tiles to gain entry into the house and stolen gold, silver and cash from the cupboard.
Following the complaint filed at Manipal police station, a special police team was formed to trace the culprits.
On March 13, police detained the suspects near Shimbra Bridge after noticing them behaving suspiciously. The stolen gold ornaments were recovered from them.
