‘Do not come wearing jeans-top, half pants’, notice put up outside Digambar Jain temple

The committee of Digambar Jain temple of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh took a big decision. According to the decision, from now onwards devotees will have to come to the temple wearing special clothes. Clothes should be such that they cover the person’s body. Apart from this, from now on one will not be able to enter the temple wearing short clothes like half pants, jeans-top. Instead, the temple committee has advised that women should come to the temple wearing suit-salwar or saree. The committee has given this information by putting a board outside the temple, on which it is written that one should enter the temple only wearing a saree or suit.

 

The people of Digambar Jain Temple Committee have taken this decision on 30 April. According to Ankush Jain of the temple committee, this decision has been taken to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the temple. Apart from this, he said that this decision is not to restrict the personal freedom of any person, but to promote the discipline of the temple.
