The patience of Indian pilgrims who had gone to the holy land of Saudi Arabia for Hajj now seems to be breaking. There is a huge uproar at present in Mecca regarding the facilities provided to Indian pilgrims. Aam Aadmi Party has raised this issue vigorously and has put the Central Government and the Haj Committee in the dock. It is being told that on one hand a huge amount of around Rs 4 lakh each was collected from the Hajis, on the other hand they are being forced to live in hellish conditions.

Actually, this matter heated up when some videos of pilgrims from Rampur and other districts staying in Azizia area of Mecca went viral on social media, narrating their ordeal. The condition of the hostel seen in these videos has exposed the claims of the Haj Committee. Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, taking the lead in this matter, has directly sought answers from the Central Government and Haj Committee of India.

Video of plight in Mecca’s Azizia goes viral

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh on his social media handle ‘X’ Asaf Al Qureshi Hostel A video has been posted, which is describing the horrific situation there. While sharing the video, Sanjay Singh wrote that what is happening with the Indian pilgrims in Mecca is extremely shameful. He raised the question that when up to Rs 4 lakh has been taken from a pilgrim, then why are they being given such facilities?

In his post, Sanjay Singh has also expressed his displeasure over the fact that families are being kept separately there. Actually, Haj pilgrimage is an emotional and religious journey, where elderly people and women feel safe with their families, but there they are being forcibly shifted to separate rooms. Terming this entire system as ‘unbearable’, the MP has appealed to the Haj Committee of India for immediate intervention.

One toilet among 16 people even after taking Rs 4 lakh

The biggest complaint of Haj pilgrims is regarding accommodation and basic facilities. According to the evidence sent by the Hajis of Rampur, 8 to 16 people are being crammed inside each room in this hostel of Azizia. The limit reached when it was revealed that only one washroom was available for 16 people. According to local people and travelers, the condition of the washroom is so bad that its dirty water is coming inside the rooms, due to which the risk of infection and disease spread has increased.

Not only this, despite the scorching heat, the lift of the hostel is out of order, due to which the elderly pilgrims are facing a lot of difficulties in going up and down. There is a huge crisis of cleanliness and water. AAP’s state spokesperson in Rampur, Faisal Khan Lala has written a letter to the Haj Committee Chairman and registered his strong objection in this matter. He clearly said that this kind of playing with the Hajis in the name of faith will not be accepted at any cost.

‘Aam Aadmi Party’ raised demand for high level investigation

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson in Uttar Pradesh, Faisal Lala has demanded in his letter that there should be a high level investigation into this entire episode. He raised the question that on the basis of which standards were these hostels and agencies selected? The party says that strictest action should be taken against the culprits because this is a matter to the faith and safety of thousands of Indians.

Aam Aadmi Party has given an ultimatum that if clean, safe and standard facilities are not immediately ensured for the Hajis, the issue will be raised on a more comprehensive level. At present, Haji stranded in Mecca and his family members in India are very worried about this matter. It remains to be seen how quickly the Haj Committee and the Ministry of External Affairs show activeness in this matter.
