US President Donald Trump gave a blunt verdict about meeting Queen Elizabeth II, according to a royal author. The late Queen met the US President on two official occasions, one in July 2018 in Windsor and then again in June 2019 during his first state visit to the UK.

Mr Trump was the last state visitor the Queen received in the UK, as in 2020 and 2021, they were severely limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Royal author Robert Hardman spoke about King Charles's recent state visit to the US and reminisced about speaking with Mr Trump in the Oval Office of the White House.

He said he wanted to give him a copy of his new biography, Elizabeth II.

The author told Mr Trump how he was the last state visitor Elizabeth ever received.

To which the US President replied jokingly: "I was the last? I hope I didn't do anything to offend her!"

Mr Hardam said to the Daily Mail: " pointed out that she had found him, according to those close to her, 'charming, tall, tanned, big, courteous, mid-century' and also 'amusing'."

Mr Trump then gave a blunt verdict: "'I've had better and I've certainly had worse."

It comes as Mr Trump announced a major move regarding tariffs imposed on the UK after Charles's.

The US President took to his Truth social media account on Thursday and said he would be removing US tariffs and restrictions on whisky "in honour of the King and Queen".

He added: "The King and Queen got me to do something that nobody else was able to do, without hardly even asking! A wonderful Honor to have them both in the USA."
