Cesc Fabregas has reaffirmed his decision to continue at Como following their remarkable achievement of qualifying for the Champions League. The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has experienced a swift rise in his coaching journey, playing a key role in transforming the Italian club into a major contender within a short span of time.

Dedication to Como’s long-term vision

During Como’s open-top bus parade celebrating their top-four Serie A finish, Fabregas dismissed any speculation about his future. Having seamlessly transitioned from an illustrious playing career to a crucial position on the Como coaching bench, the Spaniard revealed that preparations for the upcoming season are already in motion after detailed meetings with the club’s top officials.

“Future? We had a long meeting at 2pm with the president and the director,” Fabregas told Sky Sport. “We have consolidated the idea; the vision is already on the next season. I am very happy here; as you know, I am missing a step or two more, and I am learning a lot. We are creating a mentality.”

Rapid rise through the ranks

The pace at which Como have advanced through Italian football has astonished many, including Fabregas himself. The club’s journey from the lower divisions to competing among Europe’s elite has been nothing short of extraordinary, a progression the coach proudly describes as a “masterpiece.”

“The growth of this club has been too fast; since we started it, it has been two and a half years that we have been pushing expectations,” he said. “We are aware of what we are; we have a clear vision. A masterpiece, but from today we start to prepare for a tough and different season.”

Readying for the Champions League stage

Fabregas is fully aware of the magnitude of the challenge awaiting Como in the Champions League. The leap from Serie A competition to facing Europe’s premier clubs demands a major tactical and physical evolution if Como hope to remain competitive on the continental front.

The Spaniard cautioned that there will be no room for complacency, remarking: “We have to be careful. If you go to the Bernabéu or Camp Nou and you're not prepared, you'll concede six goals. We have to be careful, raise the level and prepare well.”

Fabregas responds to Nico Paz transfer rumours

One of Como’s key objectives this summer is to retain the core group of players who were instrumental in their historic success. Nico Paz, a standout performer under Fabregas’ guidance, is a major priority for the club as they aim to sustain their momentum heading into the next campaign.

“A very important player for our growth. We grew with him, and he grew with us,” Fabregas said about Paz. “We are an important match; let's see what happens, but our will is that he stays with us.” This strong stance underlines Como’s determination to be more than just participants in Europe next season.

Recently, Fabregas categorically dismissed speculation linking Paz with a transfer to Inter, clarifying both his contractual status and future plans. He explained that Paz is still 50% their player and emphasised that only Real Madrid have the authority to decide his next move.

Addressing the rumours directly, Fabregas pointed out that Zanetti has no official role with either Real Madrid or Como, urging that boundaries be respected. Ultimately, Fabregas made his position clear: “Paz will not play for Inter, as he will either return to Real Madrid or continue playing for Como next season.”
