In a series of important decisions being taken by the Uttarakhand government on various festivals and events, now an important announcement has been made for the government employees and people of the state on the occasion of Bakrid. The Pushkar Singh Dhami government of the state has issued an order to declare May 28 as a public holiday across the state on the occasion of Bakrid. Along with this decision, the state government has extended hearty greetings to the people of the state on Eid Ul Azha and appealed to everyone to maintain peace and harmony. However, with this announcement, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has once again made his government’s stand clear regarding law and order.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stressed in his statement that the government fully respects all religions and their worship methods, but any kind of compromise with law and order will not be tolerated. He emphasized that Uttarakhand is a peace-loving state, where people of different religions and communities have been living in mutual brotherhood and harmony for a long time. Chief Minister Dhami said, “We have no objection to any person’s method of worship or worship. Every person has complete freedom to worship and worship according to his religion, but all this should be done within the ambit of law.”
Government bans offering Namaz on the road
Reiterating his government’s policy, especially on the issue of offering Namaz in public places and on the roads, CM Dhami said that offering Namaz on the roads will not be allowed. He clarified that roads are meant for easy movement of the general public, and any kind of religious activity in such public places not only disrupts the traffic but may also cause unnecessary trouble to the common citizens. The Chief Minister has appealed to everyone to practice their religious beliefs only at designated and authorized places, so that no section of the society is inconvenienced and law and order is maintained.
This stance of the state government is being considered an important and far-sighted step towards administrative strictness and maintaining law and order. In the same sequence, the administration has also been instructed to make concrete arrangements for peace and security in all the districts on the occasion of Bakrid. Police and local administration have been asked to keep special vigil and increase patrolling in sensitive areas, so that the festival can be conducted in a peaceful and cordial manner and any untoward incident can be avoided.
No one is allowed to play with the law in the state: Chief Minister
The state government has also made it clear that festivals of all religions will be celebrated in Uttarakhand with full enthusiasm, respect and dignity. Be it namaz or worship, everyone has complete freedom to follow their religious beliefs, but violation or disobedience of the law will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Reiterating his statement, Chief Minister Dhami said, “Everything will happen in Uttarakhand – Namaz and puja will also happen, but no one is allowed to play with the law.” He once again appealed to the people of the state to maintain mutual brotherhood and harmony and celebrate the festival together and peacefully. This balanced approach of the state government on the occasion of Bakrid is being considered an important step towards maintaining social harmony and rule of law, where religious freedom and adherence to law are given equal importance.
