A football analyst has shared his opinion regarding Persib Bandung’s recent inclusion in the FIFA banned list.

Persib Bandung unexpectedly appeared on FIFA’s banned list on Friday, 29 May 2026.

As a result, the club is prohibited from registering new players.

In this instance, FIFA did not provide a specific explanation for imposing the sanction on Persib Bandung.

However, football clubs are typically placed on this list due to financial disputes or regulatory violations.

“The FIFA Registration Ban List is an important resource for the football community, detailing clubs worldwide that are currently facing registration bans imposed by FIFA.”

“This list includes clubs that are temporarily prohibited from registering new players due to various infractions, such as financial disputes or breaches of regulations.”

“As a key tool for Member Associations, confederations, clubs, players, and agents, the FIFA Registration Ban List helps maintain transparency and compliance in the sport, allowing stakeholders to stay informed about which clubs are not eligible to register new players during the suspension period,” FIFA stated.

Not long after, Persib Bandung released an official clarification.

The club, nicknamed Maung Bandung, explained that the issue stemmed from a specific case related to the termination of former player Daisuke Sato’s contract in 2023.

The matter proceeded to arbitration at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which ultimately issued a ruling that reduced the amount of compensation compared to the initial claim filed against the club.

The club also emphasized that the issue was not related to salary arrears.

National football analyst Ibam Hariri commented that such a situation should not occur at a club of Persib Bandung’s stature.

He expressed confidence that Persib would resolve the issue promptly.

“I think in cases like this, there are usually some handover processes that haven’t been completed or perhaps overlooked,” he said.

“It’s definitely a wake-up call for Persib; something like this really should not happen.”

“But I believe the Persib team is already working quickly and efficiently to resolve this matter,” Ibam told BolaSport.com, as quoted from Kompas.com.

He further hoped that this incident would serve as a valuable lesson for all football clubs in Indonesia.

According to him, clubs must be more meticulous when drafting contracts for foreign players.

“This should be a note not only for Persib but also for every club in Indonesia. When signing foreign players, all data, legal documents, and written agreements must be properly managed and stored,” Ibam explained.

“There have been many instances where players are contracted for one season but end up leaving after just six months,” he added.
