Only 10 days remain before the grand kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The tournament, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July 2026, will feature 48 national teams, including Germany’s national side, famously known as Die Mannschaft.
Fridon A.O. Rua, S.Pi, also known as Ridon — a former striker for the UPT Perikanan Undana team — is an ardent supporter of Germany for this World Cup. Ridon strongly believes that this will be Germany’s lucky year to reclaim the coveted trophy.
After a 12-year wait since lifting their last title at the 2014 World Cup, Germany has often reached the semi-finals but fallen short. Now, under the guidance of Julian Nagelsmann, Germany aims to bring home the trophy once again.
Germany has historically been one of the most successful teams in World Cup history, having won the title four times — in 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014.
As a former striker for Desa Besikama and Persatuan teams, Ridon noted that Germany has long been known for its consistency and discipline in World Cup history.
Nicknamed Die Mannschaft, the team is recognized for its tactical discipline, resilience, and winning mentality in every major international tournament.
“At the 2026 World Cup, Germany is expected to perform strongly once again with several star players like Joshua Kimmich, Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz, Leroy Sané, Antonio Rüdiger, and Jonathan Tah, who are expected to form the backbone of the team,” said the former Chairman of the SMANSA CUP Malaka Alumni Football Tournament Committee.
Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann has included veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (40) in the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Bayern Munich legend and 2014 World Cup winner had initially announced his retirement from international football after UEFA EURO 2024 but later reversed his decision. Neuer will now travel to North America as the first-choice goalkeeper for his fifth World Cup appearance.
Coach Nagelsmann has opted for a well-balanced mix of experienced internationals, established stars, and emerging talents who have impressed in recent months.
Joshua Kimmich will captain Die Mannschaft, with expectations that he will play a central leadership role throughout the tournament.
Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz, and Nico Schlotterbeck are also among the selected players, projected to be key figures in Germany’s campaign.
Bayern Munich’s backup goalkeeper Jonas Urbig will travel as the fourth-choice keeper, ready to step in if needed due to injury or illness.
Notable absentees from the squad include Karim Adeyemi, Robert Andrich, and Niclas Füllkrug.
Germany has been placed in Group E of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Curaçao, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.
