News from La Liga — Denzel Dumfries’ transfer to Real Madrid has been finalized for a fee of 20 million euros from Inter Milan.
Denzel Dumfries has agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid, and the 20 million euro release clause in his Inter Milan contract is set to be triggered next week.
This value is notably lower than the 25 million euros that was initially expected to apply on that date.
Earlier reports from various sources indicated that the Dutch defender had made Real Madrid his top priority over Liverpool and other interested clubs.
Dumfries only wanted Real Madrid
No formal negotiations were needed since the release clause was already in place, meaning discussions were limited solely to personal terms.
According to Fabrizio Romano, this part of the deal has been completed, with full agreement reached tonight between Real Madrid and Dumfries’ representatives.
There had been some confusion regarding the exact amount Real Madrid would pay, as the release clause was widely reported to be 25 million euros.
That figure was partly accurate, as Sportitalia previously reported last year that the clause started at 20 million euros when it became active on July 1.
The amount would then gradually increase every five days until it peaked at 30 million euros on July 15.
Since Real Madrid made their move early, the cost to secure Dumfries’ signature is only 20 million euros.
This remains profitable, considering Inter initially paid 14.75 million euros to sign the right-back from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.
Therefore, Real Madrid could officially announce the agreement as soon as next week, following Sunday’s presidential election.
Inter Milan are expected to reinvest the funds in finding a replacement, with Atalanta’s Marco Palestra emerging as their top choice for around 50 million euros.
Real Madrid now 'actively pursuing' a deal for the Serie A star
The La Liga giants have identified the Inter Milan defender as a key summer transfer target.
The player in question is none other than Denzel Dumfries.
It is widely known that Real Madrid are actively seeking reinforcements at right-back ahead of next season.
With Dani Carvajal expected to leave as a free agent, competition for the position alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold in Jose Mourinho’s squad is seen as essential.
As noted earlier, this week Florentino Pérez and his team appear to have identified their top target in the transfer market.
According to recent reports, after finalizing a deal for Ibrahima Konaté, Real Madrid’s focus has now shifted to securing an agreement with Inter Milan for Dumfries.
“Madrid have made Dumfries from Inter Milan their primary target to strengthen the right-back position and have already held talks with the 30-year-old, who has a 20 million euro release clause.”
The defender recently completed a season at San Siro marked by injuries but still managed five goals and two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
Vinicius Jr’s contract extension sees major twist ahead of the 2026 World Cup
Vinicius Jr’s contract situation remains one of the most discussed issues surrounding Real Madrid, with the upcoming FIFA World Cup emerging as a key factor in negotiations between the club and the Brazilian forward.
Reports suggest that discussions over a new deal have been completely stalled for nearly ten months, despite previous indications that both sides were close to reaching an agreement.
The forward remains under contract until 2027, but the lack of progress has kept uncertainty alive around one of Real Madrid’s most valuable assets.
While neither side appears overly concerned about an imminent separation, time is shifting the balance of power — especially as the World Cup draws nearer.
Contract talks remain on hold
According to recent sources, Real Madrid and Vinicius were close to finalizing an extension before negotiations abruptly halted last summer.
At that time, optimism remained that an agreement would eventually be reached, as both parties agreed to revisit the matter later — though that follow-up has yet to happen.
With Real Madrid currently occupied with presidential elections and key sporting priorities, it appears unlikely that talks will resume before the World Cup.
In this context, a strong World Cup performance could significantly strengthen Vinicius’ bargaining position when discussions resume.
This would not only enhance his standing within Real Madrid but also attract interest from top European clubs should his future remain unresolved.
Vinicius is in a stronger position than ever
It is also noted that during the previous failed negotiation round, Vinicius had already reduced his salary demands significantly.
His initial request was reportedly close to 30 million euros per season.
However, both sides later reached a much more reasonable middle ground, creating optimism that a deal was near before talks collapsed.
It’s worth noting that when Vinicius Jr last extended his contract in 2022, he agreed to a progressive deal averaging 15 million euros net per season.
That figure placed him among the club’s top earners, but comparisons with Kylian Mbappe continue to influence discussions.
This is why the current negotiations go beyond salary, also touching on his status and recognition within the squad.
Real Madrid midfielder could make surprise loan move to Juventus this summer
Real Madrid are preparing for major changes this summer, including the arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new head coach.
Although Mourinho’s return marks a fresh chapter, the futures of several stars remain uncertain — including Eduardo Camavinga.
Camavinga’s chances of leaving Santiago Bernabeu have grown after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign.
The French midfielder has been linked with a move, with Juventus emerging as a potential destination.
Is a loan move being considered?
Reports suggest that Eduardo Camavinga could leave Real Madrid on loan to Juventus this summer.
Such a deal would allow the Frenchman to remain a Real Madrid player — something he has always desired — while gaining regular playing time in one of Europe’s top leagues.
These reports from Italy come amid growing indications that Jose Mourinho does not include Camavinga in his plans for next season.
Real Madrid prefer a permanent sale
However, sources within Real Madrid believe that a permanent transfer would make more financial sense.
With Camavinga under contract until 2029, the club’s management estimates his value between 35 million and 40 million euros.
This amount would help free up wage space and squad capacity for Mourinho’s rebuilding project.
This development comes as little surprise, given that Camavinga has failed to secure a regular starting spot during his five seasons at the club.
His inability to progress as expected, compounded by recurring injuries and a notorious red card against Bayern Munich, has caused frustration among fans and management alike.
To make matters worse, Camavinga was also excluded from France’s World Cup squad — a clear sign of his declining stock.
