Juventus striker Arkadiusz Milik has spoken candidly about the deep emotional strain caused by his long-running injury troubles. The 32-year-old Polish international revealed how repeated fitness setbacks left him mentally exhausted, to the point where he sometimes had to abandon his training sessions to cry alone in the bathroom.
A never-ending injury battle
Milik has faced a difficult spell with his fitness, making only limited appearances for Juventus in recent months. The veteran forward, who joined the Turin-based club permanently from Marseille in 2023 after an initial loan, has now shared the psychological toll that accompanied his physical struggles.
In an honest conversation with Polish channel Kanal Sportowy, Milik described how being sidelined so often tested his resilience. Although Juventus offered full support during his rehabilitation, the personal weight of the situation became unbearable.
“Over the past two years, all I could really talk about were my injuries,” he admitted. “That period completely drained me. I wanted to switch off from everything.”
Reaching breaking point
At the start of the year, Milik hit an emotional low following yet another serious setback. The forward, who previously thrived with Ajax—scoring 47 goals in 76 matches—then with Napoli, where he netted 48 times in 122 appearances, and later with Marseille, contributing 30 goals in 55 games, reflected on the toughest moment of his journey.
He recalled, “At the beginning of 2025, I had a major problem. Those were very difficult times. I had reached rock bottom—there were moments when I went to the gym to train but had to stop midway, go to the bathroom, and cry to release everything.”
A lost season filled with frustration
The 2025-26 campaign has effectively been a lost one for Milik, with the striker managing just two Serie A appearances and a total of only 34 minutes on the pitch. His injury record over the past two seasons has been heartbreaking: a knee problem sidelined him for 208 days in 2024, followed by recurring calf and muscular issues, and an unspecified injury that kept him out for another 147 days.
At the beginning of this year, a fresh calf strain ruled him out for over two months, and a hamstring tear in April added another 30 days to his absence.
“I regret that my season with Juve had to end like this,” Milik added. “Recently, I felt like a starving man walking down a street full of restaurants. But now, I’m smiling again, refreshed, and ready to play.”
Looking ahead
With his contract running until the summer of 2027, the two-time Coppa Italia winner is eager to turn the page. Milik is now fully focused on his pre-season training, determined to prove to the Juventus coaching staff that his injury problems are finally behind him and that he can reclaim his place as a key figure in the squad.
