The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has announced that the 2026 NWSL Championship will once again take place at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., marking the second time the venue will host the league’s title decider. Audi Field, the home ground of the Washington Spirit, previously staged the 2022 championship match, where the Portland Thorns triumphed over Kansas City Current.

The decision to bring the final back to Audi Field highlights Washington, D.C.’s growing reputation as a major hub for women’s football. The Washington Spirit have built a loyal following at the venue, and U.S. Women’s National Team forward Trinity Rodman has played a key role in raising the team’s profile. The stadium serves as a cornerstone of the city’s football culture, hosting both the Spirit and Major League Soccer side D.C. United.

The 2026 event will mark Audi Field’s second time hosting the NWSL Championship, following the successful staging of the 2022 final. The league’s decision underscores its confidence in the city’s ability to deliver another memorable showcase of women’s football.

“Washington, D.C. has become one of the premier destinations for women’s soccer, with an incredibly engaged fan base, a vibrant soccer culture, and a community that continues to champion the growth of our game,” said NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman.

She added, “As soccer captures the attention of fans across the country this year, the NWSL Championship will serve as a fitting culmination of a landmark year for our sport in the region.”

In 2022, Audi Field hosted the championship match where the Portland Thorns secured their third league title after defeating Kansas City Current. The 2026 final will mark the NWSL’s return to the East Coast for the first time since that year.

The upcoming NWSL Championship is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026. Before the final, eight teams will compete in the playoffs, with the opening round set to begin during the weekend of November 6.
