Signs of a major transfer move by Persib Bandung for the upcoming 2026/2027 season have begun to surface.
According to reports from TribunWow.com, Persib Bandung are reportedly eyeing several star players to strengthen their squad.
Among the potential recruits is a winger who has previously featured in the FIFA World Cup.
This information surfaced through a football-focused social media account that often discusses Indonesian football and transfer rumours, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
The post originally responded to questions from fans regarding Persib Bandung’s latest transfer speculations.
The account revealed that the player in question is a European winger who has competed at the World Cup, though it did not disclose his identity.
“Persib lan,” asked one unidentified fan.
“Rumour says a winger who once played in the World Cup. He’s from Europe,” the account replied.
Despite the mystery surrounding his identity, Persib Bandung’s chances of signing such a player appear realistic.
It’s worth noting that Persib Bandung were already quite aggressive in the 2025/2026 transfer window.
They even managed to sign a former World Cup winner, Layvin Kurzawa.
Kurzawa was part of the French national team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The former Paris Saint-Germain left-back officially joined Persib Bandung during the second half of the 2025/2026 season on a free transfer.
He was brought in to bolster the defensive line of the Maung Bandung squad.
At that time, Persib Bandung also qualified for the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League (ACL) Two 2025/2026.
Unfortunately, their campaign ended in the Round of 16.
Layvin Kurzawa, meanwhile, saw limited playing time during his stint with the club.
The 33-year-old appeared in nine matches for a total of 158 minutes across all competitions in the 2025/2026 season, registering one assist.
Given this background, Persib Bandung’s ambition to bring in another World Cup-calibre player next season does not seem far-fetched.
Moreover, the club is expected to receive additional financial support thanks to Frans Putros and former player Gervane Kastaneer.
Both players have been called up to represent their respective national teams in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Gervane Kastaneer was first announced by the Curaçao national team as part of their World Cup squad on 18 May 2026.
More recently, Frans Putros was confirmed to be in Iraq’s final squad for the tournament, as announced on 1 June 2026.
Aside from being a proud moment for Persib Bandung and their fans, this development will also bring financial benefits for the club.
This is due to FIFA’s Club Benefit Programme, which compensates clubs whose players participate in the World Cup.
The payments are not based on the players’ minutes on the pitch, but rather on the number of days they are under the national team’s supervision—from the start of World Cup preparations until the tournament concludes.
The compensation is distributed proportionally among all clubs that the players represented in the two years prior to the 2026 World Cup.
Therefore, Persib Bandung are set to receive financial compensation from FIFA through Gervane Kastaneer’s inclusion in the tournament.
The exact amount Persib Bandung will earn under this programme, however, has not been disclosed.
Fans will now be eagerly watching to see whether Persib Bandung can successfully secure the signing of the World Cup winger in the 2026/2027 season.
