MEDAN - The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Football fans around the globe have already begun turning their attention to the world’s most prestigious tournament.
Not only the general public, but government officials are also showing their excitement for the quadrennial football spectacle.
One such official is North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya, who revealed that Argentina has always been his favourite team.
“Our favourite team has always been Argentina,” he said in an interview with Tribun Medan on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Surya even predicted that regardless of who Argentina faces, the team will likely secure a 1-0 victory.
“Our prediction is at least 1-0,” he stated confidently.
However, he did not specify which Argentine player he admires most, only saying that he has supported the team for as long as he can remember.
“It’s always been Argentina,” he added.
According to the latest information, Argentina will compete in Group J, where they are set to face Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
Argentina’s first group match will take place on Wednesday, June 17, against Algeria.
Their second game is scheduled for June 23 against Austria.
Finally, Argentina will wrap up their group stage campaign on June 28 when they face Jordan.
The Argentina national football team represents the country in international competitions and is regarded as one of the strongest teams in South America and the world.
