TRIBUNBULUKUMBA.COM, GANTARANG - The Chairman of the Bulukumba branch of the United Development Party (PPP) in South Sulawesi, Zulfikar, admitted that he would not want to miss any of the World Cup matches.

He revealed that he already has his own favourite team in the tournament.

“I already have my champion team, which is the Portugal National Team for the 2026 World Cup,” said Zulfikar on Thursday (June 4, 2026).

According to him, Portugal’s midfield is incredibly strong, and the team possesses the invaluable experience and sharpness of CR7.

He is confident that Portugal has what it takes to lift the World Cup trophy this year.

Zulfikar’s belief in Portugal’s potential to win stems from the fact that the team has previously triumphed in the UEFA Nations League.

That victory, he said, is proof of the team’s maturity and readiness to compete at the highest level.

The Portugal national team will bring 27 players to the 2026 World Cup, including their legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The squad for the 2026 World Cup features a blend of seasoned veterans and some of Europe’s finest young talents.

In the goalkeeping department, the team includes Diogo Costa (FC Porto), Rui Silva (Sporting CP), and José Sá (Wolverhampton).

In defence, Portugal boasts big names such as Rúben Dias (Manchester City), Gonçalo Inácio (Sporting CP), Tomás Araújo (Benfica), Renato Veiga (Villarreal), Nuno Mendes (Paris Saint-Germain), Matheus Nunes (Manchester City), Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), João Cancelo, and Nelson Semedo (Fenerbahce).

Meanwhile, the midfield is strengthened by Vitinha (Paris Saint-Germain), João Neves (Paris Saint-Germain), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), Rúben Neves (Al Hilal), Samú Costa (Mallorca), and Francisco Trincão (Sporting CP).

Up front, Portugal relies on Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) as the main attacking figure, supported by Rafael Leão (AC Milan), João Félix (Al Nassr), Gonçalo Ramos (Paris Saint-Germain), Pedro Neto (Chelsea), Francisco Conceição (Juventus), and Gonçalo Guedes (Real Sociedad).
