The Indonesia national football team is set to host Oman at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium tonight for the Garuda Championship Series.
The kickoff for the Indonesia vs Oman match is scheduled for 8:00 PM WIB on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Although this fixture is part of a friendly tournament, both teams are preparing for major cup competitions next month.
The Garuda squad will compete in the 2026 ASEAN Championship, while Oman will participate in the 2026 Gulf Cup.
Ranked 122nd in the world, Indonesia has called up 23 players for two matches this month against Oman and Mozambique.
Oxford United forward Ole Romeny, who has scored four goals in eight appearances, has been included in the squad. Australian-based Mathew Baker is the only uncapped player in the team.
For Oman, Friday’s game marks their first official match of 2026.
The Middle Eastern side had their friendly against Sierra Leone in March cancelled due to political reasons.
The Reds have not played since last December’s Arab Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage after winning just one of their three matches.
With the Gulf Cup approaching in Saudi Arabia this September, the Oman team aims to regain rhythm by playing two friendlies this month — against Indonesia and Kuwait.
Head-to-Head and Statistics: Indonesia vs Oman
The two nations have met six times in the past, with Oman winning half of those encounters (three) and losing twice to Indonesia.
The Reds remain unbeaten in their last four matches against Indonesia, winning three and drawing once.
The upcoming clash will be their first meeting since March 2021, when Oman defeated Indonesia 3–1 in a friendly match.
Indonesia’s two victories over Oman came in the 1980s during their first two encounters: a 2–0 win in February 1987 and a 3–0 victory in January 1988 — both in the King’s Cup.
According to the latest FIFA World Rankings, Oman sits at 79th while Indonesia is ranked 122nd.
Prediction: Indonesia vs Oman
Although the Garuda squad has struggled in recent matches, the Reds have not played in nearly six months.
This lack of match sharpness could be a decisive factor, giving the less experienced hosts a chance to avoid defeat.
We expect this game to end in a low-scoring draw.
