New Delhi: In both Hinduism and astrology, great importance is given to time calculation and auspicious and inauspicious times. On the basis of this system, today we are entering a particularly sensitive and challenging time called ‘Panchak’. This Panchak is starting from Friday, hence from the point of view of astrology it is also called ‘Mrityu Panchak’. It is considered very inauspicious.

Why is it called Panchak

According to the principles of astrology, when the Moon passes through five consecutive constellations (from Dhanishtha Nakshatra to Revati Nakshatra), then this special period of five days is called Panchak. During this period, it is strictly prohibited to do certain things.

Correct time of Panchak in June 2026

The Panchak of June 2026 started today i.e. Friday, June 6 at 07:03 pm. This inauspicious time will continue for the next five days and will end at 08:16 am on Thursday, June 11, 2026. This inauspicious time of Panchak is starting from Friday, hence it is believed that during this time the impact of negative energy will be more as compared to other Panchaks. Therefore people are advised to be careful.

Don’t do this even by mistake

One should especially avoid traveling towards the south during the Panchak period because this direction is considered the direction of Yamraj and negative powers. Starting the construction work of a new house or getting the roof of the house done during this period is considered very inauspicious.

loss of money and people

By doing this there is a possibility of loss of money and people. During these five days, one should abstain from activities like making new furniture for the house, starting wood work or collecting wood for fuel.

Doing these things is considered taboo

Weaving a new cot, buying or making a new bed or mattress is completely prohibited during Panchak. It is believed that if a person dies during the Panchak period, then Panchak Dosha is imposed on the family. To prevent this, at the time of cremation of the dead body, there is a rule to make five effigies of flour or kusha and cremate them as per the rituals.

Ways to protect yourself from negativity

This is Mrityu Panchak, so do not let any kind of bad thoughts or negativity come into your mind these days. Maintain distance from disputes, fights and troubles. In this sensitive time, only adopting a virtuous lifestyle, chanting Gayatri Mantra and maintaining mental peace can keep a person safe from its ill effects.
