Pakistan Occupied Kashmir PoK Protests: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is once again in the grip of massive unrest and horrific violence. The situation has worsened after the strict ban on the civil organization Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) operating here. 27 people have died in fierce clashes between protesters and security forces in Rawalakot. More than 70 people are said to be badly injured in this horrific violence.

This massive violence has erupted at a time when a massive call for a complete strike was given across the region on June 9. According to Reuters, the situation worsened when supporters gathered in large numbers outside a hospital mortuary. The body of an organization worker who had died in the earlier firing was kept there. Police and paramilitary forces took strict action to disperse the crowd, which escalated the ruckus.

Police and security forces action

Poonch Sector Commissioner Sardar Waheed Khan said that many lives have been lost during this dreadful violence. The horrific retaliation took place after some miscreants started firing directly at the security forces. Police Chief Liaquat Malik clearly said that 23 security personnel and about 50 protesters were badly injured. Many people have been detained to stop the violence.

The biggest reason for this latest and fierce movement is the decision taken regarding 12 reserved seats in the Assembly. These seats in the 45-member assembly have been reserved for refugees who live in other parts. Local organizations allege that this new system will significantly weaken their political representation. He also says that only the local people should have authority over the decisions of the area.

Human Rights Commission expressed deep concern

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed its very serious concern over this entire horrifying incident. The Commission said it was deeply concerned by the horrific violence in Rawalkot and the ban imposed on the committee. It is not right in any way to ban a social movement under anti-terrorism laws. The Commission has made a direct appeal to the central and regional governments to initiate dialogue and reduce tensions.

Internet ban before elections

Amidst the growing uproar, the leaders have made it clear that their movement will continue despite the ban. Very important elections are going to be held in this entire disturbed area on 27th July. In such a situation, the administration has tightened security arrangements and has completely stopped mobile data service in many areas. Due to increasing violence, large gatherings have also been banned due to which the tension has increased a lot.

In view of this severe tension, big countries like Britain, Australia and Canada have issued travel advisories. All these countries have warned that there could be huge road jams and significant disruption in communication services in the area. Due to heavy deployment of security forces, normal movement of people may be significantly affected. Foreign citizens have been asked to completely stay away from these demonstrations and follow the instructions of the administration.
