This means that the runs scored in the year 2018 have now been left behind.

The first Test match between India and Afghanistan in Test cricket took place in the year 2018. Then both the teams together had scored 686 runs. In that match, India had scored 474 runs in its first innings. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay had centuries in it. After this, when the Afghanistan team came, it scored only 109 runs in the first innings. After this the team had to face follow-on. Batting in the second innings, the team scored 103 runs. In this way both the teams together had scored 686 runs. India won this match by a huge margin of innings and 262 runs.

    Now talking about this match, India, batting first, had scored 564 runs at the loss of eight wickets. In this, opener KL Rahul’s 100 and captain Shubman Gill’s 126 runs were important innings. Rishabh Pant contributed 81 runs and Washington Sundar also contributed 52 runs. After this, when the Afghanistan team came on the field, it also scored more than 100 runs. By the time six wickets of Afghanistan had fallen, both the teams together had scored 698 runs. That means the record of the year 2018 was broken. While last time 30 wickets had fallen, this time the teams scored so many runs on only 14 wickets.

    Even after this the innings continued. Even the first innings of both the teams have not been finished yet, after this one more innings will be played. By then more runs will be scored. That is, it remains to be seen how many more runs both the teams will be able to score by the time the match ends. Only one match is being played in the series, which is not a part of the World Test Championship.
