The suspense around India’s ODI series against Afghanistan has finally ended as both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have reportedly cleared their fitness assessments and are now available for selection.
The ODI series between India and Afghanistan is scheduled to begin on June 13, and both senior players could feature in the squad after recovering from injuries sustained during IPL 2026. Rohit Sharma had been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, while Hardik Pandya was dealing with back spasms.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical and sports science team at the Centre of Excellence has given both players a fitness clearance, effectively ending doubts over their availability.
Hardik Pandya is also expected to make a return to ODI cricket after a long gap of around 14 months, while Rohit Sharma could feature in an ODI match after his last appearance earlier in the year.
Reports further suggest that Hardik has been actively training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence since June 2 and has even bowled extended spells in practice without any discomfort, indicating full recovery.
With both key players fit again, India’s squad for the Afghanistan series is expected to gain significant strength ahead of the upcoming international fixtures.
