The National Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, initiated by the Central Government, offers financial support of ₹15,000 monthly to deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing postgraduate studies.
Purpose of the Scholarship
This initiative aims to assist meritorious students in continuing their higher education by alleviating financial burdens. Many students are compelled to halt their postgraduate education due to financial difficulties, making this scheme a vital resource.
Scholarship Amount and Duration
Eligible students under the National Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme receive ₹15,000 each month for a period of 10 months annually. The scholarship can be availed for a maximum of two years, allowing students to benefit from up to ₹3 lakh in total financial aid, significantly easing their educational costs.
Eligibility Criteria
This scholarship is exclusively for first-time postgraduate students enrolled in full-time courses at recognized institutions. Applicants must be under 30 years old at the time of application. To ensure the aid reaches those in genuine need, there is a family income cap.
Income Limit for Applicants
To qualify for the scholarship, the annual family income must not exceed ₹6 lakh. Verification will be conducted through an income certificate.
Selection Process
Selections for the scholarship will be determined based on an All-India merit list, which will be compiled from the academic performance of applicants nationwide. Students with strong academic records will have a better chance of being selected.
How to Apply
Interested students must submit their applications online via the National Scholarships Portal. The application process includes completing e-KYC and uploading necessary documents such as mark sheets from Class 9 to the highest qualification, admit cards, and bank account details.
