Manchester United rival Manchester City for Nottingham Forest ace as Bayern Munich eye Arsenal winger – transfer updates

Manchester United are confident they can beat Manchester City to the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

City have so far led the chase for the England international, but as per The Guardian, United remain optimistic about persuading the 23-year-old to move to Old Trafford. Forest, however, are reportedly holding out for a transfer fee exceeding £100 million.

The Red Devils were on the brink of completing another midfield addition. Their deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, though expected to be finalised, has temporarily stalled after the Brazilian received a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad.

In other developments, reports from Germany suggest that Bayern Munich are weighing up a move for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli. The 24-year-old has been on Bayern’s radar for quite some time, with the Bundesliga champions now confident they could secure his services for around £40 million.

Martinelli registered only 11 league starts last season — his lowest total in the past five campaigns. With Arsenal actively pursuing attacking reinforcements this summer, the Brazilian faces the risk of slipping further down the selection order at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are nearing their first signing of the summer window. As reported by The Daily Telegraph, 20-year-old French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen is set to complete a move to Tyneside. The Magpies, along with Chelsea, were also in the running to sign AIK prospect Zadok Yohanna, but Brighton ultimately secured the 18-year-old’s signature.
