Mexico’s seasoned striker Raul Jimenez has officially parted ways with Fulham after his contract at Craven Cottage reached its conclusion, leaving him available on a free transfer. The experienced forward, who is gearing up for the forthcoming World Cup, is already engaged in advanced talks over a quick move back to another English club.

Fulham confirm departure of veteran striker

The West London outfit confirmed that the 35-year-old centre-forward has left the club following the expiry of his deal. As per reports from the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers have dispatched a special delegation to Mexico in a determined attempt to persuade their former star to return to Molineux. Despite receiving interest from other Premier League teams and his boyhood club Club America, Jimenez is now said to be deep in negotiations for a sensational comeback to the West Midlands.

Rob Edwards sets high expectations

Wolves are eager to bring back their former talisman to lead their upcoming campaign as they aim for an immediate promotion push. Head coach Rob Edwards is keen for Jimenez to provide top-level leadership at Molineux, teaming up with fellow veteran Kieran Trippier to guide a youthful squad. Trippier’s move was finalised on Monday, and Edwards considers both experienced players vital to building a side capable of challenging for promotion.

Reviving a Molineux legacy

Jimenez previously enjoyed a successful five-year stint with the West Midlands club after initially joining on loan from Benfica in 2018. Before completing a £5 million transfer to Fulham in 2023, he became a legend at Wolves with an impressive record of 57 goals in 166 appearances. Significantly, his 40 Premier League goals make him the club’s top scorer in the competition’s history, adding to the excitement surrounding his potential return.

Focus turns to World Cup campaign

For now, Jimenez’s attention is firmly on international duty as Mexico, one of the co-hosts, prepare to kick off their World Cup journey against South Africa on Thursday. Selected alongside Santiago Gimenez, Armando Gonzalez, Julian Quinones, and Guillermo Martinez as one of five recognised strikers in Javier Aguirre’s squad, Jimenez aims to find his rhythm early ahead of crucial Group A clashes with South Korea and the Czech Republic.
