Where is ITV’s World Cup Studio? Spectacular New York Setup Leaves BBC Red-Faced

The contest between television giants has officially kicked off ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with ITV striking an early and powerful blow against its long-time competitor, the BBC.

As the grandest football tournament in history approaches, ITV’s jaw-dropping first reveal of its new broadcast studio has reportedly left BBC executives feeling the pressure.

Throughout the World Cup, ITV Sport will air live coverage from a stunning, purpose-built studio situated in Brooklyn, New York.

Showcasing sweeping views of the legendary Manhattan skyline, this ultra-modern space will serve as the broadcast hub for presenters Mark Pougatch, Laura Woods, and Semra Hunter.

Embracing the transatlantic spirit of the tournament, ITV has even brought in Man v. Food host Adam Richman to co-present a culturally themed ‘third eye’ social feature from the studio.

Supported by an elite panel of pundits including Roy Keane, Ian Wright, and Gary Neville, ITV appears to have invested heavily to deliver a world-class presentation worthy of the event.

The lavish Brooklyn setup stands in stark contrast to the BBC’s more restrained approach.

In what seems to be a cost-conscious decision, the BBC has chosen to base its main presentation team in Salford for the group stages, only planning to travel to North America once the knockout rounds commence.

Meanwhile, ITV presenters will enjoy real-time vistas of New York City, while their BBC counterparts—Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman, and Kelly Cates—will operate against digitally generated backgrounds.

The BBC’s ‘immersive studio’ in Greater Manchester is equipped with large-scale LED screens designed to virtually replicate the 16 host cities, offering a technologically advanced but stationary experience.

However, the BBC’s challenges extend beyond production logistics.

The broadcaster continues to grapple with the impact of Gary Lineker’s departure from his flagship Match of the Day role last year.

To make matters more challenging, Lineker is not spending this summer in the UK. Teaming up once again with his podcast partners Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, he is currently in New York City filming daily The Rest is Football World Cup specials for Netflix—completely outside the traditional UK broadcast framework.
