SmackDown Highlights: WWE SmackDown took place at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island, as the road to Night of Champions continued. GUNTHER was set for a rematch against Cody Rhodes next week, and on this show he announced the stipulation for that match.

The final first-round matches for the King and Queen of the Ring also took place. In the men’s match, Finn Balor, Jey Uso, LA Knight, and Royce Keys competed for a place in the next round. In the women’s match, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lyra Valkyria, and Sol Ruca faced each other for advancement in the tournament.

Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Sol Ruca (KOTR First Round Match)

Charlotte Flair, Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, and Jade Cargill start fast. Everyone targets Jade early. She powers through and hits a double suplex on Lyra and Sol. Flair takes control with chops and a German suplex. Jade throws her out, but B-FAB and Michin attack Flair. Alexa Bliss and Tiffany Stratton even things out outside.

Inside, Sol and Lyra keep fighting. Jade hits a spinebuster, Lyra and Sol keep breaking pins. Chaos builds late. Sol hits Sol Snatcher, Lyra breaks it. In the end, Charlotte traps Lyra in the Figure Eight and gets the win.

Finn Bálor Backstage Interview Turns Chaotic

Finn Bálor is interviewed backstage ahead of SmackDown. He says he is happy to be back on the show, has friends and old rivals, and is focused on King of the Ring. Ron Killings interrupts in a loud, excited mood, talking about Judgment Day and tag titles, but mixes up words and confuses everyone. Damian Priest arrives and keeps things serious, showing tension with Balor. Killings tries to lighten the mood and calls it all “live laugh and love,” while Priest insists they stay focused on the tag titles. Balor then walks off to prepare for his match.

Brie Bella & Paige vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)

Henley and Reid started strong with early double-team control, isolating Brie in their corner. Paige shifted momentum with a mix of suplexes and strikes. Brie added fast-paced offense like dropkicks and a missile dropkick. Jacy Jayne’s interference helped Fatal Influence take over for a stretch during the break. Late in the match, both teams traded near falls and finish attempts. After chaos outside the ring and a failed PTO attempt, Paige rolled up Henley with a small package for the pin and the win.

Sami Zayn Confronts Cody Rhodes

Sami Zayn comes out in Providence and calls for Cody Rhodes. Cody joins him in the ring. Sami says helping Cody keeps going wrong and asks if Cody is really his friend. Cody says it’s competition, not friendship, and Sami is acting desperate because he wants the WWE Championship.

Sami reminds him he supported Cody at WrestleMania and stayed loyal while others left. Cody says Sami has changed and is no longer the same guy. Sami suddenly slaps Cody, then immediately apologizes. Cody slaps him back. Sami leaves, comes back with a chair, then throws it down and walks off upset.

Axiom vs. Rey Fenix (c) (AAA Cruiserweight Championship)

Rey Fenix and Axiom go fast from the start, trading counters and high-flying moves. Fenix drops Axiom outside early and follows with a dive. Axiom fires back with a German suplex and a penalty kick for a nearfall. Both men keep reversing submissions and strikes.

In the second half, Fenix lands a big crescent kick and a DDT, but Axiom survives multiple big spots including an avalanche Spanish Fly. The match stays back and forth until Fenix connects clean and finishes it with the Mexican Muscle Buster.

Rey Fenix wins by pinfall and retains the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.

B-FAB & “Michin” Mia Yim vs. Mia Yim Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton

Stratton and Yim start fast, Tiffany controls early with quick counters and keeps Mia trapped in the corner. Green tags in blind and almost steals a pin but only gets two. B-FAB comes in with a solebutt and the heels slow things down heading into break.

After break, Yim hits an avalanche Frankensteiner but Green survives. Tiffany gets cut off outside by Jade Cargill, giving Chelsea a short opening. She lands a Killswitch on B-FAB, but Mia is legal. Yim lifts Green and finishes it with a Styles Clash for the win.

Finn Balor vs. “Main Event” Jey Uso vs. LA Knight vs. Royce Keys (KOTR First Round Match)

Finn Balor vs LA Knight vs Jey Uso vs Royce Keys starts fast with Keys overpowering everyone early. Balor uses speed and takes control briefly. Keys then turns it around, throwing Finn and Jey around and later slamming Balor into the apron.

LA Knight and Jey Uso team up for a triple powerbomb through the announce desk on Keys. Finn hits Coup de Grace but Keys breaks the pin. Solo Sikoa interferes and helps swing momentum.

Final stretch sees back-and-forth chaos. Knight almost wins but gets hit with a Samoan Spike. Jey Uso steals the pin on Knight. Jey Uso wins by pinfall over LA Knight.
