Bradley Barcola is reportedly pushing for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer, igniting strong interest from Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Liverpool. The French international is said to be eager for a new challenge beyond the French capital, prompting both English clubs to closely monitor his situation.
Barcola looking to leave Parc des Princes
The 23-year-old winger is believed to be considering an exit after an inconsistent season in Paris. Barcola was a regular feature for PSG last term, making 21 appearances as a starter in Ligue 1 and also playing in 16 Champions League matches.
Despite being valued at around £60 million and having two years left on his contract with PSG, Barcola’s exclusion from the starting lineup in the Champions League final victory over Arsenal in Hungary appears to have been a key factor in his decision. He was only brought on as a second-half substitute, which reportedly left him frustrated about his role in the squad.
Premier League clubs on alert
According to reports from talkSPORT, Arsenal are among the frontrunners to sign Barcola, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his attacking options on the wings. The Gunners have been linked with several wide players recently, including Morgan Rogers and Christos Tzolis, but Barcola’s top-level experience makes him an especially appealing target for the North London side.
Liverpool are also said to be in the race as they begin a new chapter under manager Andoni Iraola. With Mohamed Salah having departed and Cody Gakpo struggling for consistency on the left wing, the Reds are in urgent need of reinforcements in attack. Although RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande remains on their shortlist, Barcola’s availability has reportedly shifted Liverpool’s focus towards the Frenchman.
PSG consider Ferran Torres as successor
While PSG publicly maintain that Barcola is not for sale, the club is believed to be quietly planning for the possibility of his departure. As per Gianluca Di Marzio, manager Luis Enrique has identified Barcelona’s Ferran Torres as a suitable replacement should Barcola leave. Enrique and Torres share a strong working relationship from their time together with the Spanish national team.
Torres is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2027, but PSG are keeping a close eye on developments at Camp Nou. If the Parisians move for a new winger, it could pave the way for Barcola to complete a transfer to either Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium or Liverpool’s Anfield.
Decision expected after international duty
Any decisive move regarding Barcola’s future is expected to come only after the conclusion of the World Cup in North America. The winger is part of Didier Deschamps’ France squad but has found it difficult to secure a starting role in the warm-up matches, where Marcus Thuram and Desire Doue have been preferred in the frontline.
France will kick off their campaign for a third world title against Senegal, followed by group stage clashes with Iraq and Norway. Barcola will be hoping to use the global tournament as an opportunity to impress potential suitors in England before determining where his club career will continue after the summer.
