There is good news for the ration card holders of Uttar Pradesh. The last date for distribution of free ration being allotted for the month of June 2026 under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) is near. As per the orders of Uttar Pradesh Food and Logistics Department, eligible beneficiaries can get their free food grains from government fair price shops (kotedars) till June 15, 2026. Earlier this date was fixed as June 10.

Under this, a total of 35 kg free ration is being given to Antyodaya card holders per card. This includes 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice. Whereas eligible household card holders are being given 5 kg ration per unit (member). In this, 2 kg wheat and 3 kg rice is being distributed. Ration distribution will be done daily from 6 am to 9 pm.

The department has clarified that the distribution of ration will be done mainly through e-PoS machines through Aadhaar authentication (biometric verification). But, the facility of mobile OTP based verification has been provided for such cardholders whose thumb impressions (fingerprints) are not matching with the machine for the elderly, laborers or other beneficiaries. This OTP facility will also remain fully active for an extended period i.e. till June 15.

Keep in mind that the benefit of free ration will be available only to those holders who have completed the e-KYC process. Cardholders whose KYC is pending should get it completed as soon as possible. In case of non-compliance of KYC, the name of the concerned unit may be struck off from the ration card and the card may also be suspended. However, in case of suspended food grains, ration will be available from next month after getting e-KYC done.

Portability facility is also being provided to ration card holders. If any beneficiary or migrant worker is outside his native area, then under the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme, he can go to any government ration shop other than his designated shop and get his share of food grains. In case of any problem during the distribution of food grains, beneficiaries can lodge a complaint on the department’s toll-free number 18001800150.
